Team Leader - External Repair Workshops (Seasonal Position)

The Team Leader for External Repair Workshops reports to the Sustainable Mobility Project Manager - Bicycle Expertise, and their main responsibilities are to ensure smooth operations at workshops, known as Carrefours BIXI, for the entire summer season.

 

This is a seasonal outdoor position in our external workshops for the duration of the BIXI Montréal summer season.

What you will do:

Team and Workshop Management

·       Support the Project Manager in the deployment of repair workshops at season launch

·       Welcome and integrate new bicycle mechanics in the field

·       Write and review workshop procedures (daily operations, bicycle repair, customer service)

·       Ensure that procedures are followed by all teams

·       Act as a mentor and coach for bicycle mechanics on a daily basis in order to preserve BIXI's quality image

·       Act as a specialist in exceptional situations (bicycle mechanics and client service)

Technical component

·       Act as the first line of communication to disseminate specific messages between the field team and the project manager

·       Carry out Carrefour workshops’ inventory and monitoring of parts and tools

·       Act as a manager of special maintenance projects for Carrefour workshops during the summer season

·       Participate in the daily operations of the workshops in order to achieve targets set at season launch

·       Welcome customers while their bicycles are being maintained and repaired

·       Perform diagnostics and minor maintenance/repairs on customer-delivered bicycles in real time to ensure their safety and optimal equipment performance

·       Carry out repair operations and maintain bicycles in good condition (e.g.: operations on the brakes, chain lubrication, replacement of parts, changing batteries, adjusting gears, etc.)

·       Answer customer questions and assist them with the rental of different types of bikes of the BIXI fleet

·       Ensure the availability of bicycles at the station and rebalance the inventory when required

·       Carry out maintenance on bicycles in the network while using BIXI electric bikes for travel

·       Other related tasks as requested by your supervisor

Job requirements

What we are looking for :


  • Training and Experience

  • High School Diploma

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a bicycle mechanic or workshop

  • Asset: previous experience as a Bike Mechanic in external workshops for BIXI Montréal

  • Physical skills in handling heavy loads (moving bicycles weighing 22 kg/50 lbs )

  • Knowledge of bicycle vocabulary, components and systems

  • A strong knowledge of the road network of the city of Montreal as well as the various transport networks (e.g.: Montreal metro)

  • Perfect spoken French and English

  • Availability for a work schedule with variable hours (day, evening and weekend)

  • General knowledge of BIXI Montréal and its services (an asset)
